Following the United Nations Climate Change Summit on 23rd September 2019, convened by UN Secretary General António Guterres, the Global Commission on Adaptation has begun its Year of Action. Our Year of Action will:
  • Advance recommendations from Flagship Report and Action Tracks
  • Help accelerate adaptation around the world
  • Improve human well-being and result in more sustainable economic development and security
The findings will be presented in October 2020 at the Climate Action Summit hosted by the Netherlands.

The Global Commission on Adaptation is led by 8th Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon and co-chaired by Bill Gates and Kristalina Georgieva. Together they have an audacious mission: to tip the balance in favor of continued growth and more widely shared prosperity, even in a rapidly warming world.

OUR COMMISSIONERS
Our Commissioners are known for their track record of global leadership on major issues, and their ability to advance the Commission’s work. They will oversee the development of a flagship report, to be released in September 2019 ahead of the United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Summit.
